Passover Recipes For Kids

Passover is a religious holiday observed by the Jewish people across the world. The festival is celebrated to mark the freedom of Jews from slavery and imprisonment from the Egyptians. The date of Passover falls on the 15th day of the Hebrew month of Nisan. The occasion is of high religious significance and is observed by following various traditions and rituals. The festivities of Pesach last for about seven to eight days. Days before the festival, houses are cleaned and traditional food is prepared. Easy Pesach Recipes For Kids

Coconut Meringue Macaroons

Ingredients
  • 2 Egg Whites
  • ½ tsp Vanilla
  • 1/8 tsp Salt
  • 1 2/3 Sweetened Flaked Coconut
  • 2/3 cup Sugar
Instructions
  • Combine egg whites, vanilla and salt together in a medium bowl.
  • Beat the mixture till it forms soft peaks.
  • Add sugar and beat again to form stiff peaks.
  • Add in the flakes coconut and mix gently.
  • Preheat oven to 350 °F.
  • Grease a baking sheet.
  • With the help of an ice cream scoop, drop the coconut mixture onto the baking sheet.
  • Bake for about 15 to 20 minutes till they are lightly browned
Guiltless Guacamole

Ingredients
  • 1 can(s) (15 to 19 ounces) White Kidney Beans (drained and rinsed)
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice (or to taste)
  • 1 Jalapeño Chili (seeded)
  • ½ cup(s) loosely packed fresh Cilantro Leaves
  • ¼ cup(s) Sweet Onion (coarsely chopped)
  • Salt (to taste)
  • 1 ripe Avocado (halved and pitted)
  • 2 Plum Tomatoes
  • Baked Tortilla Chips/ fresh-cut Vegetables
Instructions
  • Combine white kidney beans and lime juice in a food processor.
  • Puree the beans to a smooth paste. Transfer to a medium mixing bowl.
  • Place jalapeno chili, cilantro, sweet onion and ½ tsp salt in the same food processor.
  • Process till you get a juicy and thick mixture.
  • Scoop out the avocado using a spoon into the bowl with beans.
  • Mash the mixture with a fork until blended.
  • Cut each tomato half and squeeze to remove the seeds and juice.
  • Chop the tomatoes thereafter coarsely.
  • Add the chopped tomato and onion mixture to the avocado mixture. Stir well.
  • Serve immediately with tortilla chips or vegetables.
  • You can also cover the mixture and refrigerate for about 1 hour before serving.
Cottage-Cheese Chremslach

Ingredients
  • 4 Eggs
  • 1 cup 4% Cottage Cheese
  • ¾ cup Milk (whole or low-fat)
  • ¾-1 tsp Salt
  • 1 tbsp Sugar (optional)
  • 1 cup Matzo Meal
  • Grapeseed/ other acceptable Passover oil (for frying)
  • 2 tbsp Butter (for flavoring)
Instructions
  • Take a large mixing bowl and combine together eggs, cottage cheese, milk, salt and sugar. Beat well.
  • Add in matzo meal and stir well. Set aside for 10 minutes.
  • Add enough oil in a 10 to 12 inch skillet to cover the bottom and heat on medium flame.
  • Pour ¼ cup of the batter into the skillet such that it takes the shape of a pancake.
  • Fry for about 60 to 90 seconds till the first side gets golden brown.
  • Turn the pancake over and fry for another 30 seconds.
  • Remove the pancake and drain on paper towels.
  • Repeat with the remaining batter.
  • Serve hot.
